Representing PCREC, Development Director, Peggy O’Shea discussed the huge need for volunteers to provide assistance in a myriad of ways in this campaign.  She made the point that if just one more vote from each precinct in Pinellas had been cast for President Bush in the last election the county would have been in the win column for the President by a substantial number of votes.  Point well taken Peggy and if  in this election, each Republican in the county is willing to assist the campaign efforts in any way possible, we can and will make a difference.

President Beck noted several issues of concern for the TOW club and indeed the whole county. He stressed the many problems associated with voter referendums in this state, failed effective communication back up the chain of elected officials, and suggested that in light of election activity the club meet through the summer. President Beck introduced elected official and candidates inviting each to the podium to share short message about their office or candidacy. These included Tim Glassburner, Candidate for Sheriff, JJ Beyrouti, Mayor of Redington Shores, Neil Brickfield, Commissioner of Safety Harbor, and Lucile Casey all Candidates for Pinellas County Commissioner District 1.

Unable to attend legally but  never the less represented was Cynthia Newton for judgeship.

Guest speaker and candidate for Clerk of the Court was Clearwater Mayor Brian Aungst. Mayor Aungst reviewed his administration’s responsibilities and accomplishment during his tenure. He pointed to the Library project, beaches development and Clearwater government infrastructure improvements.  He commented that these are just a few of the hands on experiences he brings to the County Clerkship position.  He noted that the while many activities and changes in the Clerk of Court's office have occurred, the position now requires a CEO approach for continued improvement.

President Beck and club officers obtained photographs for review and selection to be used on the club’s website scheduled for Internet appearance within the week.  Watch for this new capability and the club power for two-way communication to the top echelons at local, state and national levels that capability  produces.  Great start and great meeting President Beck.
