Tribute to Ronald Reagan 40th President of The United States

     (1911-2004)

As we reflect upon the true greatness of Ronald Reagan, his achievements in American public policy, legitimizing Conservatism, combating our foes in the Cold War and setting the stage for final Victory in that epic forty-six year struggle.

"Tear down that wall Mr. Gorbachev!" he said and two years later,it was no more, and a divided people were reunited.

Who was Ronald Reagan?  An all American boy raised in Dixon, Ill, who became a Radio Sports Announcer, Actor, New Deal Democrat, President of the Screen Actors Guild and later a conservative Republican.

Ronald Reagan, Governor of California and President of the United States, changed American politics, by the shear force of his ideas and his direct communication with the American people.  Pundits and talking heads, deemed him simplistic and detached.

It was later discovered, that he had written thousands of letters to ordinary Americans and even to heads of State in his own hand, without the knowledge and approval of staff and media critics.

Some now say, that his image should be carved as a testament to the ages on Mt. Rushmore. Only time will tell,if that will be done.

His greatness was, he was was everyman, and the people knew it!  He gave voice to the goodness of America.  Now he too, "belongs to the ages."

Respectfully,

Erwin Beck, President, OTOW
