On Top of The World tests a new addition to the
meeting
After President Beck and Vice President Bill Sharpsteen performed the club's
administrative affairs and general announcements, Elected Officials, Candidates
for Election or their Representatives were introduced and invited to briefly
Included were Mayor of Redington Shores and Candidate for County Commissioner
JJ Beyrouti,
Representative for Ronnie Duncan seeking the same slot was Rochelle Warmouth.
Candidate for Pinellas County Sheriff was Tim Glassburner former deputy and currently supervisor for a security company.
Representing Cynthia Newton for Circuit Judge Group 22 was Ed Hooper.
Introduction of the Guest Speaker - Sonya March by President Beck was
followed by her review of a unique background, a laudable set of accomplishments,
and her list of objectives as a US Senator. She noted, that her start in life began
right here in the Pinellas County School System followed by
This precipitated additional education in California and culminating at Stetson Law School in the pursuit of a Jurist Doctorate. She then went on to become a patent attorney admitted to practice before the US Patents Court. Sonya March expressed a set of goals as a US Senator ranging from Tax Revisions to the preservation of the Nations Trust Funds such as Social Security. She will work for improvements in the Veterans Benefits available as well. On questions from the floor she noted all levels of military rank should be held accountable for actions unbecoming military conduct whether it be an Officer or an Enlisted individual. On the gay marriage issue coming to Florida, as in the Kerry-Kennedy State, a resounding and emphatic no rang out loud and clear. She continued, "marriage is an institution designed by God, exclusively for men and women to share and build a healthy life and not by same sex people building chaotic and identity problem lives for children subjected to that life style.
After the conclusion of the guest speaker's comments, and a note about the club's new web site, President Beck invited all to share in his and Sonya March's birthday celebration complete with cake and candles.
Both apparently were born on the same day in May but a few decades apart, May 17.
Treasurer Geraldine Beck, adoring wife, offers a special happy birthday message to her most appreciative husband.
Conversation and exchanges during the celebration time found many attendees in various groupings including Candidate Mayor Beyrouti and Candidate Sonya March
Bill Sharpsteen and Erwin Beck invite all Republicans everywhere to join in lighting the re election campaign fire, symbolically, at every Republican Cub meeting from now till November, "stay the course until our mission is complete."
All in all, a good meeting and the addition of refreshments, all donated by members, was a super success.
